...broken society

....i'm currently drinking red wine after having a cider. i'm testing something out. i had nothing to drink last night and have felt great all day... so to test out if there really is a link i'm drinking tonight. so when i feel like shit tomorrow i will have proved that by not drinking the other night meant i felt good the next day. i may want to drink again tomorrow night to make sure that i feel shit consistantly the next day ...now that would be proof...

have been telling the people on my leadership course today that i think society is sick. we were talking about the process of getting from england to crete by aeroplane, and the amount of steps and hand offs that are involved in the process, to show how you need to get rid of unnecessary steps and that the process can still work... we started talking about why you need to get to the airport two hours before your flight... and how this had caused there to be shops in airports. the cynics would say that the shops came first and the two hour arrival necessity came about to get people into the shops. i think there may be something in that. someone commented that the shops were helpful as when your flight is delayed it gives you something to do. what do people do in less developed countries - i asked - where there is just the aeroplane related stuff at the airport. i suggested people would just sit patiently and wait. but not here, oh no, we need to fill our time with shopping for things we don't need.. because we couldn't possibly just sit quietly and wait.

...and then over lunch people were talking about clearing paths of snow and how the "internet guys" say you could be prosecuted if you cleared the path, didn't do it properly, and someone slipped and fell.... you could be prosecuted.... it's your fault .........!!!! what a crock of shit !!!! how on earth is it right that by being helpful and clearing your bit of the path you can be prosecuted for causing harm.... surely not!!
