....life's lessons

been playing connect4 with luke. i'm the kind of dad who wont let him win. he has to win properly. where's the life lesson in just been allowed to win without the effort. after all it's the winning that counts not the taking part. well, you can imagine can't you how miffed i was tonight when luke beat me 2-1!! got lured into the whole three in a line with a free space either side trap!! i know i know we've all been there... school boy error and all that. but he beat me fair and square. so he's been made to go to bed without any supper.... that'll teach him!!

been a tiring week this week finishing today with an emergency trip to a care home with 10 residents that was about to close for business... no money it would seem... anyway looks like it may survive the weekend at least so that people can be moved in a more dignified fashion. but it was quite heart breaking as this is these peoples home... alright yeah it's a business fair enough but still... and the manager was gutted having made every attempt to make the residents lives good but been scuppered it would seem by owners who don't appear to have much of a handle on what they've bought into. care is an industry now that's a fact and there are a lot of old people to care for but it can't be ran by the same rules and ethics of other industries. it has to be ran with the people it serves at the center of its ethos and sometimes that's not the case.
