.......hey rock 'n' roll

last night we played at alex's dad's 70th birthday party! this is alex dressed as.... well.... i'm not sure really!!...... but it was in a 50's or 60's style.... he looked like a tremendously cool cat - it's amazing what an outfit can do!

we had a blast - i nailed "pretty woman" and "where have all the flowers gone" was blinding (although i did pick it up too early and left myself nowhere to go for the last verse...) simply must record this and make it a feature in a forthcoming j2x gig! god bless joan baez!

it was a tiring night but worth all the rehearsing and the long drive and late night. really good to see all of alex's family who have been a beautiful, if intermittent, feature of my life since i met alex. they are undoubtedly a great crowd and were all decked out in costumes as ridiculously fab as alex's! alex's dad introduced us as jimmy two shoes which just made things all the more beautiful... so now whenever playing parties or covers sets i think we should use this alter ego name!!

and i wonder.... where HAVE all the flowers gone?
