.....lots of bloggage to catch up on
....much to catch up on....
friday night..... chris and lyne came over and cooked for us all.... what's interesting is that in my blog i call him chris whenever he turns up with lynne but miller whenever he turns up to "play". for those who don't know chris and miller are in the fact the very same person... namely chris miller! .....and it was a pretty cool night with delightful golden vegetable soup and a kind of mushroom and ham cobbler which was good ....and no alcohol for me 'cos i'm on call.
saturday monring...... involved going to my mam and dad's with the boys.... playing football in the park - my mam really needs to sharpen her shooting skills.... a woman in her sixties should have a bit of a better idea of how to hit the back of the net.... my dad has lost non of the aforementioned skills but moves at a slightly slower pace than in the heady footballing days of his youth when he was a bit of a star with the ability to kick with both feet - a skill sadly not passed on genetically!
saturday lunch.... an interesting conversation about not finishing the upcoming edinburgh marathon (you can sponsor me here) due to me keeling over was discussed and i was led to consider my mortality. and what i find interesting is that i'm more at ease with the prospect of death now that i don't have a faith that perpetuates the idea of a life after death than i was when i had such a faith. while i think we as humans are very clever, fab, and groovy, in terms of worth to the planet i see us as no more valuable than tigers or ants or whales. in fact all of the aforementioned could probably do with us dying out leaving them to get on with living on this beautiful planet.
saturday night.... spent trying to explain to luke (age 7) that not only are we (i.e. the planet earth) going round and round, but we are also going round and round the sun, and also very very slowly falling towards the sun, and that the sun will one day burn out, and that some people feel that the universe is expanding and that we are therefore also traveling in an outward direction! after contemplating this we suspended reality by watching spiderman and found it was far easier to accept a man being able to shoot spider webs from his wrists and do all manor of superheroey things than it was to accept all that stuff about us and the sun..... does my head in thinking about it.... as pooh would say.... "i am a bear of little brain"
