........no ones gonna take me alive

in the absence of a picture i've waited for a while to post this hilarious muppet show/swedish chef moment!

nik said something interesting, simple, and completely correct while we were out bike riding the other day. we were talking about creationism and evolution n stuff. and the simple thing he said was "evolution is fact". great point! no matter what your stance on god evolution is fact.... simple as that. and if you want you can let science and god exist side by side but you can't deny (and i repeat) evolution is fact. no doubt some would say that its not its just a theory but i would disagree with this..... the thing creation/god is is a mythical account of creation and how things work.... just like stories of egyptian gods, roman gods, etc etc and we dismiss these as irrelevant so why not discount christianity.... no body believes for a minute that zeus sits on mount olympus son why not treat christianity with the same fondness but the same opinion of it as an archaic belief that holds no relevance to life in the 21st century.

yet luke's school continue to insist on christian influenced input into end of term assembly and probably regular assembly... and alright it is generally easter or christmas when we are invited to these things but, from talking to other parents, other schools manage to do something communal to mark the end of term without resorting to christianity. .....and at the end of every day it would seem a prayer is said.... why? and is it a prayer to god on a monday, to allah on a tuesday, etc etc ...no ....its a daily prayer to the christian god.... this is simply not right or necessary.....

and the schools response is always the same..... write and tell us your feelings and we'll make sure your child is not included.... this is not a helpful response ....this is an education establishment (and i am more than happy for luke to be educated about christian tradition alongside education about other faiths) so why not make it so that those who want their children to be part of a christian prayer at the end of the day have to write in and have there children excluded from the mainstream of class in order to have their prayer time.

i wonder how many parents actively want their children to pray at the end of the day?
