....done
alot with
luke on his bike over this break. he's been desperate to cycle to school... so cycle to school we did on
friday and
monday and he had a cycle while i had a run on
sunday. my first run since the marathon and i know it's stupid but i felt quite apprehensive but..... it was fine! have lost some weight over the last few days and
i'm putting it down to the variation of things
i've done... climbing, cycling, weights and running!
pete came over on
sunday night.... it was a lovely surprise and about time..... we'd just been emailing the week before about how we hadn't really seen each other properly for a good while even though our paths have crossed fairly regularly.
we cooked... which is difficult as
pete is a
vegamatarian which means not only does he not eat meat or animal products but also doesn't eat vegetables that have been looked at by any livestock or indeed have been within 20 feet of any beast... it's problematic... and then once you've solved that problem you have to worry about the carbon footprint of the food getting to you as he won't eat anything that has travelled more than 3 foot 6 inches to get to the plate. we found some water from the tap that we felt had not been viewed by any cattle and made do with that although we felt it had a slightly beefy after taste which
was a bit worrying.... still it was lovely to see him. apparently the rules of
vegamatarianism don't extend as far as red wine or port so i had a bad head the next morning as i suspect did he.....

and on my bike ride today i found some of these beautiful fellas. you know some people don't like these and think they are ugly. i think they fully epitomise what our approach to the planet should be. harnessing what it can give us without damaging it. they are sculptural and architectural and absolutely gorgeous..... they are such a natural thing (in my head at least) that they fit beautifully into the natural landscape
