.....happy birthday jono and karl

this is karl drummer extraordinaire with jimmy two times, friend, and all together gregarious individual.... and as mad as a hatter!! here he is all glassy eyed at his and jono's birthday party (karl 40 on the 28th and jono 30 on the 19th) at the royalty. just out of shot he has his arms raised a double jack and coke in each. he was absolutely hammered!!

we played an entertaining and fun set weaving some j2x champions (stars won't find me, inamorata, traveller, midnight fading) with some of our classic covers (time of your life, roxanne), with our fun party rock 'n' roll medley (pretty woman ("pretty woman - 1,2,3,4,5 - i don't believe you its not the the truth" lol), ticket to ride, summer times blues, heartbreak hotel, rock and roll music) which was as ever lots of fun.

we've been struggling ( or i should say "i" really) to find the time and energy for jimmy two times this year. in fact apart from alex's dad's 70th and this gig we have not played. but when we get together and play the tunes and it all comes together (which it pretty much did last night) it's just fabulous. i think i need to talk to the boys so we can come up with a position where we can still do j2x but it doesn't become too much. we've got an album in the can which really needs to see the light of day....

karl wasn't the only j2x member who was mortal last night... alex knocked back a considerable quantity of pear cider and had well glazed eyes by the end of the night.... i was dad and was driving and looking after my boys!
