.....slow down

read an article today... an interview with carl honore who wrote a book called "in praise of slow" brought about by finding out you could actually by books called one minute fairy tales for busy parents to read to their children at bed time. he says we do everything so fast that it is to our detriment. i contemplated this and thought "how right". i often feel in danger of missing everything by going through it all so fast that i experience very little of it. manchester last weekend was great 'cos it was all done slowly but there was still a sense of "once this is over what's the next thing, must get home, tomorrow i'm doing x y and z". you see... the moment spoiled by the desperation to get to the next thing. i find myself often disabled by the amount of stuff to do that is in front of me. must listen to this cd, must read this book, must wash the car, must play with luke, must get to work, must get back from work, must go for a run, must lose weight...... and you know what.... i end up doing none of it or doing it but not enjoying it. so i need to slow down and slow down i will. got bob dylan on.... how could you feel stressed and pressured with bob on he says as an aside..... so i'm not gonna try to exercise every day, i'm not gonna get to work for 7.30 every day, i'm not going to write every song i write with a view to it going onto my next cd (case in point.... circadian rhythms monthly cd's of which there was one!), i'm not going to take very picture i take with a view to it going into a montage for you tube (although i may still do this.... slowly! lol!) i'm going to do things, but one at a time without concern for what else i might be doing or what i might do next.... i tried this today while washing my car and you know what... i slowed down not washing and polishing like a mad man and i enjoyed it and i actually did it in less time and if my windows are anything to go by (not usually good at windows) better.
....must buy the book.... when i get a chance.... just whenever...... no rush.....
