christmas plans go well - pressies are bought (pretty much) and wrapped, food will be bought today, i'm off work, all is well.... and there are still days to go.
......been reflecting on the joe vs. rage against the machine thing
and generally i think there was a good and valid point to it
it wasn't about stopping joe being number 1 for me 'cos that's just mean - i hope he does well.. and he will. it was about saying to corporate music that you can't feed us this schmaltzy pap and expect to get away with it forever. there are many many many talented musicians/songwriters out there (not people who are just good singers) who's music never reaches a wide audience (and in some ways that's not the important bit - it's the production/writing of the music and what that experience is like for the individual writer [cathartic, illuminating etc] that is important). i know many people just in y group of friends and at the open mic nights i play who are infinitely more talented than the people writing for joe and it's for those people that i bought the ratm single......
