.....i need to tell you about my weekend

.....i need to tell you about my weekend ...sometimes you need to reconnect with things ...family, friends, the world around you ...things get lost and the wrong things take over that you first of all miss what you have and then lose it somewhere.

....we've had a weekend that was about families and friend and being together and working together to create something beautiful...

...and the nice thing for me was we were all there... jonathan as well ...and it was great to do this as a complete family 'cos we don't get much of that which is sometimes a bit sad....

..friday saw me at kepier hall with alison and alex and their friends and family who were recreating kepier hall - essentially a "church hall" type building into what turned into a fabulous wedding venue. i can honestly say it was one of the greatest weddings i've ever been to ...and not just because i was involved in alot of things but because it felt personal for everyone with some inventive and beautiful touches ...party bags for the kids, a raffle, a beautiful meal, lovely speeches ....personal touches all the way through..
...my role as an usher and chief musician!! ;-) involved me first of all playing some christian worship songs on guitar while frankie (alex's niece) sang ....now you all know my feelings on christianity but still, it was quite a beautiful moment ..and while it inspired me not to reacquaint myself with my faith of previous years it felt familiar like an old friend i knew for some years ...and being involved in the chrisitian faith did give me a lot.... friends i would have never known, some beautiful music, some wonderful experiences, and built my confidence in myself ...for that i thank the church i was involved in....

...the reception was lovely, the speeches were a treat ....joe (alex's brother and best man) talked about alex's love for guitars and said that "when alex told me he was in love with an alison williams he had to google the name to make sure an alison williams wasn't a guitar! sweet! jimmy two times +1 (james from alex's new band "my other life" on piano) played a blinding set kinda of as part if alex's speech....

then al played a del amitri song while i slipped off an turned myself into dj steve

.....and i rocked the flippin floor
while people were arriving i beat matched some dance floor 12' vinyl tunes (despite al handing me his jacket and dragging the needle across one of them!)
then into the wedding dj classics! and the dance floor was rammed!! i feel i managed to play 3 and a half hours of cheese free wedding music and people appeared well impressed - al kept hi-5ing me with a big grin on his face so i think he felt i was going down well!!

...bring on the next booking!!!

...and then we cleared up sunday and then me 'n' miller 'n' luke went to the driving range for some golf practice.... it was his first time ...and like me it turns out he's a bloody natural! unbelievable!! so me 'n' miller are going to become golf heroes!!

...and today a lovely day in york ...down and back on the train, the jorvik museum, the railway museum and some quality family time.... great... just great.... simple as....
