.....album 2 of 7 days of albums ....the flaming lips "the soft bulletin"

...for some reason the picture i'd intended to put here - me eating corned beef and picallili sandwich has not appeared in my photos folder so - here - have this pick instead.... yes... that's what i said corned beef and picallili! i know minging!

...well what a day for music. karl and i have been writing/rehearsing tonight. we ran through the 6 acoustic songs for the first half of the 2wiseguys cd and then continued to work on the 6 dance tunes for the second half. we remembered the acoustic tunes very well considering it's been a good 6 weeks or more probably since we played them. the dance tunes are sounding great - really coming together and the backing is starting to suggest melodies for the vocals... all is good! we've pencilled in a sunday for recording in september so hopefully will have something out in october. we're planning to turn up at some open mic nights and schedule some gigs very soon.

....today's cd no.2 of 7 is "the soft bulletin" by the flaming lips. they are interesting and intriguing and very stimulating to listen to. a strange album from a production point of view. the drums sound as though they are not mic'd close but rather the room is mic'd. very boomy and reverby. the rest of the instruments are effectively produced. this makes for an unusual juxtaposition but it works..... no real favourite track just a wonderful musical journey ....oh well if i had to pick one i'd go for "the gash". i like the album put prefer their "yoshimi battles the pink robots"
