......we barbecued last night and i ate these fellas!! we've got sardines there.... (i know where's the tin!) and haloumi kebabs....very nice ....except.... be warned when in sainsburys and the man says, "do you want the heads left on", and you think, "yeah that will look cool on the barbie", this will also mean that he has not gutted the fish!!! i know!! had to get my hands in and everything and pull the innards out... luke was initially fascinated and then felt ill.... we tried to identify the various bits and failed miserably. he pointed out that only yesterday this poor creature had been swimming in the sea. while i accept his point i didn't want to shatter the illusion of freshness! let's be honest this is mass consumer food... the last time these sardines swam in the sea (if they ever did at all) would be about may! they'll have been frozen ever since somewhere. the haloumi was great.........
