...on these cd's are the tracks that charlotte wants played when i dj her birthday party next weekend. she's picked some classic dance and pop stuff; the type of stuff i'm wanting to dj (but when you dj or the older crowd you gotta play the old stuff). but as charlotte is 11 on her birthday, she's got it going on when it comes to picking the bang up to date tunes. got 2 more dj sets to do - a wedding anniversary (which will be classic 60's and 70's stuff all the way, some motown etc etc) and a christmas works party (which will be across the era's and some classic party tunes)

....last night was a blast!! i was singing as part of the "for one night only johnny vipond covers all stars". it was great! i've always said that i wouldn't want to play in a covers band. i much prefer playing my own material. but you gotta wonder if it would be good fun when you play classics and the audience just lap it up! you can't go wrong really!! the band were all wonderfully skilled musicians who nailed all the songs. we played rolling stones (brown sugar, jumpin jack flash, honky tonk woman), cream (crossroads, sunshine of your love), the beatles (twist and shout, get back), the faces (stay with me), chuck berry (no particular place to go), dire starits (sultans of swing). I shared vocals with the wonderful anna who sang some more beatles, and lola, and california dreaming.... it was great and all in aid of a hospice... and over £900 was raised! a great night. I still don't want to be in a covers band but doing that a couple of times a year would be an absolute blast!
