...the club still can't even handle me right now!
i was at the morrison busty at annfield plain. now... me 'n' albert used to go to the morrison busty as teenagers and going back there tonight was a great memory trip. the building is a bit different but still familiar enough. we used to go to the disco there on a thursday night when we were about 16 or 17 maybe. i'd drink two pints and that was about my limit! we used to get two punk songs played at 9 and all the lads would get up and pogo around... i remember one night me 'n' albert been up, just the two of us, pogoing to "woman in winter" by the skids ....great stuff ...if you don't know stuart adamson who went onto big country, and then sadly died, was the skids guitarist. the lead singer was richard jobson who had the most incredible angular chin!
as i sat and watched albert running through the quiz and raffle before i was up i got to thinking about hanging out with him and the other lads on fines park... paul fenwick, chris clews.... i remember one particular occasion when for some reason, best known to our then teenage minds, we threaded stiff wire through our scarves to make them stand out behind us as though they were being blown by a very strong wind.... strange.... but fun. and we used to play the kids from the private estate at football.... and us kids from the council estate used to beat them every time! mind not through any skill on my part! my lack of footballing prowess is legendary!
....tonight was a great gig and it was really great catching up with albert after all these years ...here's to more morrison busty gigs hopefully!
....and now i really am done for christmas ....oh bugger, no i'm not! just a little jaunt to cleveland tomorrow for an 8 mile cross country run with tony ...it's part of our traditional christmas build up! then after that..... sleep, sleep, sleep and christmas .....it's a flippin' great life!
