.....tattoo ....done!

...look at me adorning myself like the atheist pagan heathen thing that i am!!! lol
i've talked about a tattoo for years and years and what' stopped me is not being able to find the image that i wanted ...and then i stumbled across this tribal sun on the internet ...and the rst now is history ...my skin is marked forever! and i absolutely love the way it's turned out.
...took myself off to steel paintbrush where martin employed his art on my arm for two and a half hours! it was good crack and the time flew by. the feeling is difficult to describe - tolerable pain is probably the best i can come up with. it felt more like a burning sensation for the most part and apart from the last 20 minutes or so when he was going back over areas he had already done (ouch!!) it was fine.

...why the sun? well i wanted to avoid anything with an obvious religious angle, anything celtic (that's just not me), anything oriental (because i'm english for goodness sake), words (in whatever language).... so i went for the sun ....life giving, constant, warming, nourishing.... i've read some stuff recently about the history of religion and how the sun played a central role in people's spiritual understanding of the world around them... some of the concepts were ultimately hijacked by organised religion which is a shame. for me the majesty and the mystery of the sun are the same as the majesty and mystery and awe inspiring beauty of earth. it is not by design but by pure chance that we are here and the sun is there... the conditions for life exist and that is beautiful and that is in part a consequence of the life giving sun.....

Well my friend I must say that i really dig your first tattoo. I can admire not only the design and style but also the significance behind it. The sun is a very profound symbol and one I feel that it suits you but also sums you as a musician and a person i have know over the years.

Funny I thought you would get a bulldog with a banner with mother scribed in it haha.

Well I shall look forward to seeing it in the flesh and catching up soon. X

PS I'm building up some sounds for the collaboration mission you mentioned at Rowing Club Fantasy Concert - let me know when you book me in! Listening to the Mac today and taking it easy. Stevie Nicks rules. I have a little cat now Steve, he's awesome. Your post about 1lb of fat/butter was an eye opener. Bye ! x
