.....nice weather for ducks

...despite wearing my cool 'als' t-shirt i bought in the new year sale at blacks no energetic walk has taken place today
there was a big plan to walk 5.5 miles around cornsay colliery and end up in the board inn, jst outside if esh for lunch. well! what can one do when presented with inclement weather?? easy! cancel the walk but still do the lunch. now, while i don't think any of us would have not just got on with the walk in the rain it made sense given how wet and cold and windy it was to cancel as we would have been miserable by the end. and seeing as how we are trying to instill in the kids a love for walking it made no sense to make it an endurance event with the rest of the year to go at.

the lunch at the board inn was immense, both in quantity and quality. he meat was succulent and the veg nicely cooked. the roast parsnips and potatoes were to die for. we went for the two course special, and while the chocolate cake i had was absolutely lush it was a little unnecessary! all together a lovely lunch with the millers, chris just a little hung over, put right by the lunch and the coffee back at ours afterwards.

when we cane out of the pub, full to bursting, back into the teeth of the wind it was evident we'd made the right choice!!
