....highest order
..highest order have been in the circadian rhythms studio all day recording promo tunes of the covers they do in their live set. there's been some great musicianship on display and my saffire pro has been put through it's paces and used effectively for recording and separate head phone mixes for each person! how cool is that!! pete has been on hand for technical advice and has proved invaluable today (as my tech adviser) and just in general as my top bud!
me and stuey baxter (drummer in the highest order) go back to a long time ago in a land far far away when we played in a band called true faith. we had some great times and wrote some great tunes... some of which we listened to last night while we setting up and sound checking his drum kit. i enjoy recording other people. while it's tiring it's quite relaxing. while i need to focus i can still remain chilled. we've drank much coffee and had a good bit chat in the breaks.
the studio has been full of creation and sound and this is a wonderful thing. i tell you... the place feels different after such creation has taken place. the air is heavy with the feeling of been together focused on one goal to the exclusion, for a period at least, of everything else. it is good for us as human animals to escape into another world and music (and other artistic endeavors) help us do this. i think it was churchill (the prime minister not the noddy dog ;-)) who when asked if during the war time money should be spent on the arts said it should be because if it wasn't and we didn't have the arts then what were we fighting for (or something like that anyway) and he's right.... absolutely right....
...........our artistic freedom is part of our humanness.
[i took the shot above with a long shutter speed and rotated the camera. the middle bit stayed where it was and the rest all rippled..... looks class i reckon!]
