.....walking with the millers - walk no.4

...today we headed off to meet the millers at cornsay colliery for about 9.30. at 9.20 we got a text to say they were running a bit late and weren't quite ready to leave yet. this was fine. however what it meant was that we were parked outside of someones house for quite sometime which meant the curtains began to twitch and the person inside clearly thought we were casing the joint for some nefarious activity......

we set off into the woods at cornsay, through farm land and atop the hill where we took this panoramic shot..... it was wet under foot so we were up to the eyes with mud. we saw deer across the top of a hill and plenty of pheasants. we said hello to two donkeys who we could hear braying when we were still at some distance and sheep were aplenty.

..now... we got lost..... and with me 'n' miller map reading i could understand you thinking we were to blame! but no! we knew where we were at all times but we just couldn't get to where we wanted to be because the farmer appeared to have moved all the fences around. maybe our map of t'internet was out of date. we will never know. we picked up the appropriate route from a different direction and headed for home.

although it was wet it was a lovely walk with the sun threatening to peep out at any time. we got back home and while i washed all the cars the millers made homemade burgers and salad - lush! and then we settled down to the rugby.....
