....who's to blame?

you know all this stuff with the news of the world...? who's to blame? shall i tell you?
well.... is it rupert murdoch? no! is it the woman who was in charge? no! is it the journalists? no! is it the people who hacked the phone? no!.... no i say! yes no i say!

the people who are to blame are the people who buy the news of the world, and the sun, and the star, and all of those other rags that pass for newspapers. and the people who buy hello! and all of those other celebrity expose style magazines...

why are they to blame? they are to blame because all the phone hackers are doing is responding to demand. yes, it's wrong. but it's wrong that people demand the intimate details of peoples lives for their titillation as well. the nature of supply and demand is simple. if no one demands it there will be no desire on the part of others to supply it. but as long as their is demand for the gruesome gossip details of peoples lives then people will supply it. i don't blame the phone hackers i blame the public. we need to stop "reality" television - because it isn't reality - it's sensationalism, it's ridicule.... we need to stop demanding gruesome pictures of people making fools of themselves. you know celebrities are just like you and me... they make mistakes, they mess up and do things they probably wish they hadn't.... we don't need to see it....

actors are actors because they can act
footballers are footballers because they can play football
singers are singers because they can sing

they are not role models, they are not the epitome of good living. they are human and flawed just like the rest of us... i want to see them act, play football, and sing and beyond that i'm not particularly interested in what they do, their opinion, or their morals.
