.....ups and downs
...one of the problems with living your days stimulated by caffeine and your evenings chilled by alcohol is that when this pattern is broken it plays havoc. as i was working at home tonight until 9 i decided to forgo my nightly half bottle or so of wine! so here i sit at the extremely late (for me) time of 11.30 writing my blog.
i think the problem may have stemmed from lunch with ann which saw me down two coffees featuring double espresso shots! and while i've had no other stimulants tonight i reckon that's still in my system. imagine my horror on getting back out of bed to try and calm my heart down which is racing at an unearthly rate and thinking, "i know... herbal tea!" i can only find a lemon and ginger option that says on the packet "revive and revitalise"!!! i don't want to be revived or revitalised!! but in the absence of anything else i'm drinking it!
my current predicament has me thinking of those who are also struggling to find sleep for other reasons. chris and lynne have had their beautiful babies matthew and james. they had their first visit to the mordue/hill house last night and were completely fabulous and absolutely lovely in their little clothes, with their little fingers, and their cute little gurgling noises etc etc etc. difficult times for the new parents with the 'not sleeping much' thing going on but.... a dream worth dreaming and an achievement worth achieving. they'll be just fine... all four of them....
