....how's it going??
....so how's it going you ask? well, here i am with my pre christmas week off from work. now, i have had pre christmas weeks off before but at the expense of then going in between christmas and new year 'cos that's the way it was in social work practice. but now, in social work education, not only am i off for a pre christmas week, but also christmas week, AND, a post christmas week! it almost makes me giggle!!
so the weekend with the millers went well despite the apparent sickness going around. we had a lovely christmas lunch after a morning trip to lickity splits - there's some pictures from the weekend here. we watched 'elf' and listened to christmas music and generally felt chilled out - well i did - the others will need to tell you if they were chilled - but they looked fairly chilled - well except lynne when we watched 'hide and seek' which was a bit of a scary thriller - it gets a 3 and half out of 5 mordue star rating.
..christmas baking is going well - sessions 1 resulted in some nice looking biscuits which are a tad tasty too!
today i've been christmas shopping - a trip to boots and asda at the arnison centre has seen me fairly sorted! top job! the christmas spirit was often lacking in the comments i overheard! "what about this" said the man picking up an autobiography of that lily savage fella, placing it in the basket as his wife looked perplexed, for him only to return a few moments later looking all dejected while putting it back on the shelf. and then 'that'll do for him, just get that, i can't think of anything else, but have we spent enough' - the electric item was priced at £79.99 and they didn't know the person sufficiently enough to buy anything other than a "that'll do" present yet, i suspect, felt the need to spend enough (!) money! and then 'i don't give a f*ck! buy what the f*ck you want for him, i don't even like him'..... ah christmas joy!
hopefully we'll have all we need to do done by the end of friday then can hide in our family cocoon and just enjoy being together....... that will be lovely.....
