...time to check in
......not checked in here for a while but there's lots of cool stuff coming up that i'll want to record so saying hi to 'all about life again'
what's been happening...
* we have had a couple of great walks around the farm over the last couple of weeks. yesterdays was in the snow and was lovely. me 'n' jonathan have got some great photographs and yesterday luke had a fab ime cycling in the snow!
** this horse meat thing has annoyed me lately. who is at fault. well my view is it's 'us' the consumer. in our drive to want cheaper food, to eat more, and have food that is more convenient, we drive the marketplace to this kind of behaviour. and, seriously, if you're paying £1 for 20 burgers what do you think is going to be in them! it's not going to be prime beef is it - alright, yes, if it says beef it shouldn't be horse... but still. buy food in it's most original form and it's more likely you're getting something decent and then cook it. it's not more convenient to bang a microwave meal in the oven - when i have had these they still take several minutes ("cook for 4 minutes, stir, cook for a further 4 minutes...). you can wrap a baked potato in foil in seconds, i can make a good pasta sauce in the time it takes the pasta to cook, chop up some vegetables, slap them on a roasting tray with some salmon or chicken and pop them in the oven - takes about 2 or 3 minutes to prep.
*** the other thing is the pistorius trial! now i'm not talking about whether he did it or not - the evidence and the legal system will decide that. what i'm talking about is the media scrum. the cameras in his face recording every moment he weeps and breaks down. i don't want to see that. it shows a lack of respect for the system of law. it also strips him of his dignity and is humiliating for him. and remember... he's not been found guilty of anything yet. it's frankly horrific and shows me that we are not as civilised as we may think we are. humanity should afford a certain level of dignity and respect to people no matter what.
**** two wiseguys have been doing there stuff. i blistering gig was to behold at the tyneside cinema on monday of this week. despite karl playing with blood dribbling down his neck from a bongo stand incident it all went beautifully and we were an excellent (i felt) conclusion to a night of great acoustic music. marred only by the fact some of the people who'd come to see us had to leave just as we were starting as the thing ran over and we played later than anticipated.
