....the future is decided

it is decided! the future! it's decided! i'm going to be a hoff! Yes indeed a hoff - Hot, Fit, and Fifty! Well let's face it I'm there or thereabouts on all 3 counts already! ;-)

After reading in the Times today (Times 2, page 4) Simon Mills writing about this phenomena I realise that I must spend the next two years attempting to arrive at this position... and the decision comes at a good time. In terms of being Fifty, well, inevitably I will become that in two years time. In terms of being fit, well, I have my 50@50 challenge to train for (for those catching up - on the day of my 50th birthday I will swim fifty 50 metre's lengths, cycle 50 miles, and run 50 kilometres) so that should see me good on that score. And, in terms of being Hot ....well ...that ones nailed already ;-)

In his article Mills points to some likes and dislikes of Hoff's and I do quite well! For likes... the use of moisturiser (tick), gait analysis for trainers (not done it yet, but keep talking about it), aim to run two half marathon's a year (tick - although 2 half's is a bit lame!), fresh beetroot juice (will give that a go - Tony swears by it), a grand's worth of road bike (tick), they do a bit of yoga (tick), anything by Bose (watch this space!), cooking (tick)...... for don't likes - beach holidays (tick - got away with that this year when Christine suggested Turkey - I suggested The Lakes - see you next week Bassenthwaite!), Lager (tick 'ish - we prefer wine us Hoff's - better for the waistline), Fashion Trainers (tick 'ish - I am enjoying my stylish green Nike's at the moment), Replica footballs shirts (Hate them! Only people actually playing sport should wear sports gear! Fat blokes in football tops - just ridiculous - I would bring a law in! ....and while I'm on the subject it was evident from a recent trip to a (dare I say) down market sports wear shop that they are selling 90% of their 'sports' gear to people who have never got out of breath for anything more than grabbing another slice of pizza, or running to the shop for a packet of cigarettes.... ssshhh Stephen think of your blood pressure!)

Anyway there it is I a going to be become a Hoff! I'll keep you posted!
