....waste not want not

I like to think I'm not too wasteful of things - food (never wasteful of that! always clear my plate (and other peoples - I have no idea why I can't lose weight!), time, products bought etc etc. I thought I tried to get detritus to a minimum. Well... the clearing out of the Cottage to sell proves, maybe, otherwise!! I can't believe how much crap Christine and I have accumulated over the time we've lived there! Incredible! I can't begin to tell you how many times I've been to the tip!

Ah the tip - delightful place! Yelled at by the the tip fella for putting electrical's in the general waste! Well I am flippin sorry but tell me how I am meant to know that when there is no sign! Or, how am I meant to know that bags go in the carpet skip! It's marked carpet not carpet & bags! None of these people have been on the customer care course it would seem. I'll sort you you b**tards I thought. Excuse me young tip fella.... Where shall i put this.... what is it? ...it's a CD rack and is both wood and metal can not compute it is two things for which there are two skips but can only go in one skip!! ahhh my head visibly hurts ....billy ...it is both wood and metal and I have no idea what to do!! Oh shit me neither danny! (Hah! Got you!) just leave it there we don't know! (that showed you two - University lecturer you know! lol!)

Anyway none of that was the point I wanted to make which was - that whenever I go to the tip - weekdays - weekends - there is always a massive queue - week after week after week! It would seem we are a throw away society! And that worries me! My job (currently on-going) is to de-clutter and to think carefully about what I actually need! Simplify, clarify. And it turns out, given the amount of stuff I have left we actually don't need that much in terms of physical possessions. For someone like me who likes music, books, and videos digitising has certainly removed a whole load of stuff that would have required housing somewhere. My whole CD library and film library is on a hard drive (don't panic - backed up in several places - you gotta have a back up strategy) and (nearly) all new books are being purchased on the kindle.
