...a message down the decades

Sometimes iTunes on shuffle on your iPhone from the iCloud as you drive to work throws you up something to think about. It struck me as I listened to The Jam classic (appropriate use of over used word!) Going Underground that little has changed since the eighties when the god that is Weller penned these lyrics.

"Some people might say my life is in a rut
But I'm quite happy with what I got
People might say that I should strive for more
But I'm so happy I can't see the point"

I think this reflects the position of many "i'm voting for the tories to retain my position - I don't want anything to change in case I end up worse off - best maintain the status quo" ...they probably voted for brexit as well.... little do they know how much that's going to mess up their middle of the road 'I've not got a lot but I've got enough' position

"And the public gets what the public wants
But I want nothing this society's got"

There's a sea change going on. People are fed up with the so called middle ground. Fed up with the direction we are going. Half the people (roughly) voted for the Tories but the others are sending a clear message - I don't want what you've got, or think you've got - they've conned you

"What you see is what you get
You've made your bed, you better lie in it
You choose your leaders and place your trust
As their lies wash you down and their promises rust
You'll see kidney machines replaced by rockets and guns
And the public wants what the public gets
But I don't get what this society wants"

Like some kind of predication of Nostradamus this needs no explanation

I'll wait.... .....until you have to admit you f'd this up this time!
